Unexpectedly Intriguing!
12 May 2010

Craig Newmark identifies the blogs and Internet sites he reads most often. He generously writes:

Political Calculations. Stuff you won't see anywhere else on the Web.

That to us presented an interesting question, at least to us: just what stuff would you see anywhere else on the web?

To find out, we turned to Google Trends, which reports the following hot topics and searches being done at this very moment on the 12th of May in the year 2010:

Hot Topics (USA) Hot Searches (USA)
  1. bp oil leak
  2. elena kagan
  3. pittsburgh penguins
  4. nexus one
  5. nascar hall of fame
  6. lpga
  7. karzai
  8. capello
  9. brian cushing
  10. canadiens
  1. dancing with the starts results may 11
  2. juno
  3. steam for mac
  4. cleveland plain dealer
  5. doris eaton travis
  6. miley cyrus lap dance video
  7. lost across the sea review
  8. tonya craft
  9. may 12
  10. malamanteau

So there you have it. The most popular stuff you would see anywhere else on the web. A unique combination of hockey, environmental and entertainment catastrophes and, dare we say, malamanteau.

Apparently, it's our lack of focus on environmental and entertainment catastrophes that makes us unlike the stuff you would see anywhere else on the web!...
